The ’60’s and ’70’s In New York City brought together a music-blend of the Harlem. Cuban, predominantly Puerto Rican and African-American communities which continues to have a unique and profound effect on the world of music and dance. We lived there then and were fortunate to have experienced that tumultuous period. Lucas van Merwijk and Company’s production “The Soul of Spanish Harlem” splendidly captures and energetically communicates the emotion and intensity of that turbulent time.
